1. Install
Download Mirrortown for your computer from the download page: the .exe installer for Windows, or the .dmg for macOS (Apple Silicon or Intel).
2. Activate your license
- Go to the redeem page and enter your email and your AppSumo code. If you bought more than one, enter them all together (up to three).
- Copy the license key you get. It starts with
MT1. - Open Mirrortown and paste the key when the app asks for it.
The license is checked on your computer, with no account or sign-in. Your tier depends on how many codes you stacked: more users, workspaces and custom populations, plus Claude Code export and the MCP server from 2 codes, and white-label reports with 3.
Bought more codes later? Redeem all your codes together again and paste the new key; it replaces the old one.
3. Get a Jev key
The reactions come from Jev, a hosted decision model. It answers with probabilities rather than prose, which is why a full 10,000-person run costs about US$0.10. You need one key, from either provider:
- TypeSafe: create an account at typesafe.ai and generate an API key.
- OpenRouter: create an account at openrouter.ai, add a little credit and create an API key. Mirrortown reaches Jev through OpenRouter for you.
In Mirrortown, open Settings → City and paste the key. Usage is billed by that provider to your account; Mirrortown never adds a markup.
4. Pick a population
A population is the town your content is shown to. Start with a template:
- Latin America consumers (Spanish)
- English-speaking consumers
- Colombia by department, with a real map and results per department
- Persona panels: B2B SaaS buyers, Gen-Z social shoppers, middle-class families, LatAm SaaS founders, restaurants & hotels, consumers 25–40
Every person has a profile (age, gender, region, income, interests, the platforms they use and more), and those fields become the filters you can test against.
5. Run a first test
- Create a test from a starter template (SaaS landing page, restaurant promo, course price ladder, product launch email, real-estate listing, app ad…), or pick one of the 17 content types and paste your own content. For funnels, start from a funnel template: landing (AIDA), signup, onboarding, checkout or login.
- Choose a mode. Start with a quick sample: it is the cheapest way to check the setup. Then run the whole population, a filtered segment, organic feed waves, word of mouth, an A/B comparison or a price ladder.
- Run it. A full 10,000-person run usually takes a minute or two.
6. Read the results
- Verdict: one sentence on how it landed and with whom.
- Reactions: who stopped, who liked it, who was annoyed and who scrolled past.
- Heat map by region, on the population’s map.
- Segments that stopped, liked or disliked it the most.
- Extra metrics: clarity, credibility, emotion, purchase intent, NPS and share intent.
- Follow-up objections and voices: what people would say, in their words.
- Video gets a scene-by-scene retention curve; price ladders get a demand curve.
7. Interviews & reports
Want to know why? Turn any group from a result (say, everyone who was annoyed) into a persona panel, then run 1:1 interviews or a focus-group roundtable. Written reports export as PDF, Markdown or JSON; with 3 codes, PDFs carry your brand.
Interviews, roundtables and written reports need a language-model key: OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini or OpenRouter. Add it in Settings. It is optional; tests themselves only need Jev.
8. Custom populations
Build a town that matches your market:
- From a CSV: one person per row, with columns such as age, gender, region, income, interests and platforms.
- From a map: a GeoJSON file of your regions plus statistics for each one. Don’t have the statistics? Let AI draft them, then review and adjust before you generate the population.
Populations go up to 10,000 people. Custom populations included: 3 with 1 code, 15 with 2 codes, unlimited with 3.
9. Export & MCP
Claude Code export (2+ codes): from a result, export a folder with the content, the results and the people reached, ready to open with Claude Code for deeper analysis, rewrites or new versions.
MCP server (2+ codes): while Mirrortown is open, it serves an MCP endpoint on your own computer, so AI agents such as Claude Code can run tests, compare versions and read results for you. What an agent launches shows up in the app.
